Grimes is a rapidly growing community located northwest of Des Moines. It is known for its small-town atmosphere, with easy access to all the “big city” amenities. Residents of Grimes enjoy great neighborhoods, schools, restaurants and activities.
Grimes is home to acres of parks and miles of trails. The Grimes Community Complex offers 35,000 square feet of community and recreation space, and a newer sports park offers a skate park, soccer fields and baseball fields. Grimes is also home to a public library and the Beaver Creek Golf Club.
Grimes is largely served by the Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District. The high school, middle school and three out of four elementary schools are all located directly in Grimes. A small portion of the city is served by the Johnston Community School District.
