Hy-Vee is headquartered in the city, along with the Wells Fargo corporate campus. CULTURE

West Des Moines is a vibrant community with tons of shopping, dining, nightlife, parks, trails, and more. Restaurants and stores are centered around Historic Valley Junction, West Glen Town Center, Jordan Creek Town Center, the shopping mall, and many other places throughout the city. It is home to the private Des Moines Golf and Country Club and Glen Oaks Golf and Country Club. Raccoon River Park is the hub of the West Des Moines parks system. The 632-acre park provides many different recreational experiences (hiking, walking, running, kayaking, and more), along with several hundred acres of natural areas for wildlife.

Education

The city of West Des Moines is served by the West Des Moines Community School District. There are nine elementary schools, two junior high schools, a ninth-grade school, and a high school. The Dallas Country portion of West Des Moines is served by the Waukee School District. Dowling Catholic High School, a private school, is also in the city.
